Rapid Diuresis Clinic

What is Diuresis?

Diuresis is a treatment option for those patients with heart failure or volume overload. Patients living with heart failure or cardiomyopathy are at risk for fluid overload, retaining too much fluid in their bodies.

Signs and symptoms of heart failure/volume overload include:

  • Shortness of breath with activity or at rest
  • 更多的 difficulty breathing while lying down (sleeping in a chair)
  • Weight gain of more than 5 pounds in a week
  • Decreased appetite
  • Abdominal bloating
  • Coughing
  • Lower extremity edema

What Can I Expect From the Clinic?

Sometimes a change in oral medication is all you need. When oral medications are not enough your cardiology team may suggest Lee 健康’s Heart and Vascular Institute’s Diuresis Clinic.

This specially trained cardiac team will evaluate your symptoms and design a treatment plan that is specific to your needs at that time. This is an outpatient approach to relieve your symptoms and improve your quality of life. This means you’ll have much better control of your symptoms while reducing emergency room visits and hospitalizations.
